The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi has dismissed reports of a political alliance with Governor Bala Mohammed and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
The party challenged the governor to formally join the APC if he genuinely wants to align the state with the federal government.
In a statement on Wednesday, Shehu Udubo, the Bauchi APC publicity secretary, said the party knows nothing about the political arrangement currently being circulated by the governor’s associates.
Udubo urged the public to disregard the reports, maintaining that the party has no such agreement with Mohammed.
He also questioned the credibility of the alliance claims, pointing out that Mohammed continues to campaign alongside APM candidates, including the party’s presidential hopeful.
“The APC Bauchi State Chapter welcomes Governor Bala Mohammed’s appreciation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, economic reforms, and health sector interventions, and invites him to abort his ill-fated sojourn in the APM by formally joining the All Progressives Congress,” the statement reads.
“If the Governor genuinely wishes to align Bauchi State with the Federal Government’s development agenda, joining the APC would provide a clear and consistent political platform for cooperation, coordination, and the advancement of the interests of the people of Bauchi State. Bauchi State is too strategic to remain on the sidelines of Nigeria’s mainstream politics.
“Our position is driven by the need to strengthen collaboration between the state and federal governments, attract more development opportunities, improve access to federal programmes, and promote the overall welfare of the people.”
Udubo reaffirmed the chapter’s commitment to President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, emphasizing that the party wants Bauchi to directly benefit from federal policies and development initiatives.
He also called on residents to remain calm and focused on good governance, unity, and the state’s welfare.
