Ibrahim Muhammad Kashim has stepped down as the Nigeria Democratic Congress governorship candidate for Bauchi State in the 2027 elections.

He sent a resignation letter dated October 16, 2026, to the NDC chairman in Bauchi Local Government Area. In it, he told party leaders he was leaving the NDC and that the move took effect immediately.

Kashim said the decision came after careful thought and was simply a personal choice. He offered no other reasons.

The letter included this line: “I hereby formally tender my resignation from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), effective from the date of this letter.”

He thanked the leadership and members for the chance to be part of the party. He also acknowledged the support he had received. Then he asked the chairman to confirm receipt and update the records.

All this is unfolding as parties start lining up candidates for the 2027 general elections. But the letter gave no hint about whether Kashim plans to join another party or chase his ambitions somewhere else. It stayed silent on his next political move.
