Two Catholic bishops visited the permanent site of the planned FortLugard University in the Apo district yesterday to inspect progress and meet its promoter, Chief Ogwu James, SAN.
Auxiliary Archbishop of Abuja Most Rev. Dr. Anselm Umorem and Catholic Bishop of Idah Diocese Most Rev. Dr. Anthony A. Adaji arrived on October 17, 2026, accompanied by Rev. Father Don Bon and several other guests. They spent time examining the campus, which has taken shape quickly since construction began only recently.
The bishops told Chief Ogwu James they were impressed by the pace of work. The visit also let them hear more about the thinking behind the new institution. Its backers say it will help expand access to education, strengthen workforce skills, and support economic growth in the surrounding area and across Nigeria.
Bishop Adaji led prayers for the project’s completion. He thanked the promoter for his dedication and noted that the university would bring pride to the Igala people. He described the emerging campus as a masterpiece.

Chief Ogwu James thanked the group for what he called a surprise visit. He said their presence amounted to both goodwill and useful encouragement. The lawyer, who holds the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, singled out Archbishop Umorem, Bishop Adaji and Father Don Bon for making the trip and seeing the site firsthand.
He asked the clerics to keep praying that the university vision becomes reality. Beyond the project itself, he urged them to continue praying for peace, stability and sound governance in Nigeria. Collective effort on these fronts remains essential, he added.

The visit ended with a tour of the grounds. Chief Ogwu James got behind the wheel himself and drove the delegation around, stopping at various buildings and facilities under construction.
The stopover reflects steady support for the FortLugard University plan and the role its founders hope it will play in education and national development.
