Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday declared that he is not contesting any election but remains capable of influencing political outcomes in any state of his choosing.
Wike made the remark during a media chat in Abuja while responding to questions about recent political developments.
“I’m not contesting any election, but I can put heat in your state,” Wike said.
The former Rivers State governor was referring to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, who is reportedly eyeing a seat in the Senate.
Wike’s comments come amid growing speculation about the political calculations of several high-profile figures ahead of future electoral contests. He stopped short of elaborating on the nature of the “heat” he claimed he could generate, but the statement was widely interpreted as a warning to political rivals.
The FCT Minister has in the past been known for his outspoken style and strong influence within the Peoples Democratic Party and, more recently, in national politics following his appointment to the federal cabinet.
