Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has claimed that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is happy working with him, amid lingering political tensions in the state.

Wike made the statement on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, during his monthly media chat in Abuja. During the briefing, he also issued a warning to Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal over his alleged reference to him as “that guy.”

The FCT minister suggested that he could create political and financial difficulties for Zamfara State, although he noted that he is not currently contesting any election.

“I don’t want to remember him because if I put fire in his state, they’ll say I’m the one putting fire,” Wike said.

He further declared: “I’m not contesting any election, but I can make you have heat, I’ll be laughing, but you’re having heat. You’re supposed to spend N10, but I’ll make you spend N50. It’s not necessary.”

Wike also dismissed suggestions that his political influence had diminished because of his current position in the federal government. He noted that while some had believed his political relevance was over, he insisted that he remains a major political force.

Speaking on his relationship with Fubara, Wike claimed that both men are working together and that the Rivers governor is satisfied with the arrangement. He added that Fubara’s political structure could retain power regardless of whether the governor personally seeks a second term, underscoring his belief in the strength of their political alliance.
