Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has told political appointees who believe they are not benefiting from his administration to resign.
Governor Lawal made the remarks on Sunday at an All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House in Gusau, the state capital.
The governor was responding to complaints from some political office holders, youths and women who alleged that they had not received adequate welfare or support from the administration.
“There are some political office holders who complain that they have not gotten anything. That is not true. Even among the commissioners, anyone who feels he is not getting anything should resign,” Lawal said.
He said his administration had spent the past three years concentrating on governance, infrastructure and restoring relative peace across the state.
According to the governor, infrastructure projects worth more than N20 billion had been delivered in each of Zamfara’s 14 local government areas during the period.
Lawal also acknowledged that the government had failed to publicly disclose the names of individuals and companies awarded contracts, describing this as a mistake that would be corrected.
He said the administration would now pay greater attention to party politics after three years focused on governance, while urging APC stakeholders to remain patient and united.
The governor also appealed to party members to stop factional politics and unite under one APC structure, assuring stakeholders that their concerns had been heard and that plans would be developed to ensure broader benefits.
He further disclosed that about 3,000 youths had been trained in various skills, while graduates were being supported to become self-reliant.
Lawal said he would also meet former Zamfara governors, including Ahmad Yarima, Mamuda Shinkafi, Abdulaziz Yari and Bello Matawalle, in Abuja to harmonise arrangements for the party’s campaign council.
