Nigerian comedian and actor Julius Agwu has revealed that a brain operation he underwent in the United States in 2015 resulted in a loss of sexual function.
Agwu, who has previously said doctors found three tumours in his brain—one reportedly the size of a golf ball—disclosed the complication during a recent episode of the Beer Parlour Talk Show. Asked whether the condition or surgery affected other aspects of his health, he told hosts that “after I do am, prick no dey work again now. He no dey work,” a statement he also described as a loss of sexual function.
Other participants on the programme discussed the possible involvement of nerves affected by the surgery and how brain operations can impact bodily functions.
Agwu also reflected on his career, saying he helped popularise the fusion of music and comedy in Nigeria. The conversation turned emotional as he spoke about the personal toll of his illness, including friends who he said abandoned him during his recovery. “God wey I dey serve, anybody wey get hand for wetin happen to me. I go dey look. My friends deserted me. They stopped talking to me, many of them. It is well,” he said.
Agwu’s disclosure adds to public conversations about the long-term physical and psychological effects of major surgery and serious illness on entertainers and other public figures.
