-Says He Enjoyed Vacation
President Bola Tinubu dismissed concerns about his health on Tuesday, saying he is “healthy, sound and ready to go” after returning to Nigeria from an extended working vacation in Europe.
Tinubu spoke with journalists in Lagos after arriving from France, where he spent the latter part of his trip. Asked about worries raised by some Nigerians and supporters toward the end of his vacation, he replied: “Ready to kick, ready to walk. There’s nothing wrong. Rumour will always emanate from politics, but the fact remains I’m here — healthy, sound and ready to go.” He added that he had enjoyed himself while abroad.
Tinubu departed Nigeria on August 30 for a three-week working vacation, initially travelling to London before proceeding to Paris. The Presidency later announced an extension of his stay, saying he remained in touch with developments at home and continued to direct the affairs of the country while away.
His return followed weeks of public discussion over the length of his absence and political disagreements about it. The African Action Congress also sued Tinubu and the National Assembly, alleging he failed to notify the legislature before leaving the country.
Tinubu is expected to resume official duties ahead of the October 1 Independence Day anniversary.
