Governor A.A. Sule of Nasarawa state speaking on TVC in remarks monitored by Observers Times, said APC governors did not intend to fight former Rivers governor Nyesom Wike or any individual when they discussed the Rainbow Coalition. Instead, he said, the governors discussed ways to persuade the coalition to join the APC.
“Are you saying Governor Hope Uzodimma was speaking for himself when he dissociated the APC Governors from the Rainbow Coalition?” a reporter asked. Governor Sule replied: “No. We discussed the Rainbow Coalition at the meeting, but we didn’t discuss how to fight the coalition but to ‘coerce’ the coalition. We’re pleading with the coalition to join the APC. Our focus was more on APC members who are only supporting President Tinubu because of appointments and not other APC candidates. The discussion was not to fight Wike. The governors are not fighting Wike.”
Sule’s comments come against the backdrop of an intensifying media exchange between Governor Hope Uzodimma and Nyesom Wike, which has seen public statements and rebuttals circulated across broadcasts and social media. Observers say the dispute has amplified attention on intra-party and coalition dynamics ahead of upcoming political contests.
By framing the talks as efforts to bring the Rainbow Coalition into the APC fold rather than as a personal attack on Wike, Sule sought to downplay reports of a concerted campaign against the former Rivers governor.
