House of Representatives member Abdulmumin Jibrin says President Bola Tinubu will win Kano State in the 2027 presidential election, regardless of Rabiu Kwankwaso’s political influence in the state.
Jibrin, who represents Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, made the assertion on Channels Television’s Politics Today monitored by OBSERVERS TIMES on Wednesday.
Addressing his own long-standing ties to the Kwankwasiyya political movement, Jibrin insisted that he and his allies inside the All Progressives Congress (APC) know how the group operates better than anyone else.
“Who is more Kwankwasiyya than us?” Jibrin said. “We understand the entire dynamics. If you want me to put a bet, I will put a bet with you: we will deliver Kano for the President, and the president will win in the 2027 election.”
Jibrin dismissed claims that Tinubu lacks support in the region, arguing that public perception often ignores political realities that only show up on election day.
“Yes, there is always perception, but I keep telling people that what will produce the real picture of what is on ground is the election results,” he said, adding that Tinubu’s standing across the region has actually improved. “The president has never been liked so much as he is being liked in the Northern part of the country.”
He noted that APC leaders in Kano are already aligning their strategy ahead of 2027, citing collaboration among major figures in the state.
“In Kano, we are preparing ourselves,” Jibrin said. “The governor is very much on ground and experienced. The deputy governor is extremely experienced, the deputy senate president is there. Senator Hanga is there, Kabiru Gaya is there, Shekarau is there, the chairman of the appropriations committee [Abubakar Bichi] is there. We are meeting daily; we understand the dynamics.”
Jibrin’s remarks come as political parties regroup ahead of the next general election, with Kwankwaso running alongside Peter Obi on the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket, while Tinubu prepares to seek a second term under the APC.
