The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State says Dele Ayegbo, the nephew of the party’s campaign director-general, Wole Oke, has been shot dead.
The party said Mr Ayegbo was killed on Wednesday night in Esa-Oke, in Obokun Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Osun APC spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, alleged that the incident had heightened concerns over political violence in the state.
The party described the killing as “disturbing” and called for an immediate investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding Mr Ayegbo’s death and identify those responsible.
Mr Ayegbo was reportedly the nephew of Mr Oke, a prominent member of the APC’s campaign structure in Osun.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and there has been no independent confirmation of the killing or details of any arrests linked to the incident.
The alleged killing comes amid heightened political activity in Osun, with rival political parties intensifying their campaigns and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APC urged security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident and ensure that anyone found responsible is brought to justice.
Police authorities in Osun State had yet to publicly comment on the allegation at the time of publication.
