The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has approved five airlines to airlift Nigerian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage.
The commission said the approval followed a rigorous screening and evaluation exercise conducted by its Aviation Screening Committee.
In a statement issued on Thursday, NAHCON management said the process was designed to assess the airlines’ operational capacity and readiness to safely and efficiently transport Nigerian pilgrims for the annual pilgrimage.
The approval is part of preparations for the 2027 Hajj, with the commission expected to continue working with relevant stakeholders to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated airlift operation.
NAHCON is responsible for regulating and coordinating Hajj operations involving Nigerian pilgrims, including arrangements for their air transportation to and from Saudi Arabia.
The commission’s latest decision is expected to provide the foundation for further logistical preparations ahead of the 2027 pilgrimage.
