Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has taken a swipe at Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo after the governor mocked his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

On Friday, Davido shared what appeared to be Okpebholo’s West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result on his Instagram Stories. Although the singer did not add a caption to the image, the post was widely interpreted as a direct response to the governor’s recent criticism of his uncle.

The social media post followed remarks made by Okpebholo during an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Osun State on Thursday.

Speaking to supporters ahead of the August 15 Osun governorship election, Okpebholo ridiculed Governor Adeleke’s well-known love for dancing, questioning his commitment to governance.

“Before somebody signs paper, he will dance. Are you not tired? For four years, this man has been dancing. Before he takes breakfast, before he drinks tea, he will dance,” Okpebholo said at the rally, which was also attended by Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

During his speech, the Edo governor also urged voters to accept money from political opponents but cast their votes for the APC candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.

Davido has been an active participant in his uncle’s re-election campaign, attending rallies and advocating for a peaceful, free, and fair election in Osun State. Neither Governor Okpebholo nor the Edo State Government has responded to the singer’s social media post.
