The 18 first-term governors elected on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform have condemned recent xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa, describing them as unacceptable and calling for improved protection of Nigerian citizens abroad.
In a communiqué issued after a closed-door meeting at the Kebbi State Government House on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the governors addressed various national and international issues affecting Nigerians.
The governors expressed support for President Bola Tinubu’s economic reform agenda. They acknowledged the difficulties Nigerians are facing due to the reforms and appealed for continued patience, stating that the changes are expected to produce positive outcomes.
The statement noted that Nigerians are feeling the impact of the reforms, but the governors affirmed they will not abandon the process before results are achieved.
The governors also condemned rising incidents of attacks and abductions in Nigeria, particularly those involving schoolchildren, and urged decisive action to improve security nationwide.

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris read the communiqué. The governors indicated that those seeking re-election will highlight their performance in areas such as agriculture, healthcare, security, and education.
