The Delta State Government has approved the reconstruction of the Otu-Jeremi/Udu Road at a cost of N22.69 billion, in a significant move aimed at strengthening road infrastructure, enhancing connectivity and stimulating economic growth across the state.

The multi-billion-naira project forms part of the state government’s broader commitment to modernising critical infrastructure, easing the movement of people and goods, and opening up communities for increased commercial and socio-economic activities.

Government officials said the reconstruction of the strategic road is expected to improve access between Otu-Jeremi and Udu communities, reduce travel time, enhance road safety and support businesses that rely on the corridor for transportation and trade.

The approval underscores the administration’s continued investment in infrastructure as a catalyst for sustainable development, with improved road networks seen as vital to attracting investment, boosting local commerce and improving the quality of life for residents.

The project is also expected to create employment opportunities during its construction phase while providing long-term economic benefits through enhanced mobility, increased productivity and better access to markets and essential services.

The approval comes as the Delta State Government continues to prioritise infrastructure development as a key pillar of its development agenda, with several road projects underway to improve transportation and accelerate economic expansion across the state.
