Eighteen first-term governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have convened for a closed-door strategic meeting at the Kebbi State Government House, in a gathering expected to shape discussions on governance, party cohesion and the implementation of shared development priorities across APC-controlled states.

The meeting is being chaired by Uba Sani, Governor of Kaduna State and Vice Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), while the host governor, Nasir Idris, welcomed his colleagues to the high-level deliberations taking place behind closed doors at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.

Although the agenda has not been made public, the gathering is widely seen as an opportunity for the governors to exchange ideas on governance, strengthen inter-state collaboration, review policy implementation and deliberate on issues affecting both the ruling party and the country.

Among those in attendance are the governors of Sokoto State, Kaduna State, Jigawa State, Plateau State, Delta State, Ekiti State, Taraba State, Ondo State, Ebonyi State, Akwa Ibom State, Edo State, Benue State, Kogi State and Enugu State, alongside other first-term APC governors.

Governors of Cross River State, Niger State and Katsina State were unable to attend the meeting but sent their apologies, according to organisers.

Journalists remain on standby at the Government House, where a communiqué or media briefing is expected after the governors conclude their deliberations. The outcome of the meeting is anticipated to provide insights into the APC governors’ collective position on governance priorities and other issues of national importance.
