The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) has dismissed reports suggesting that the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) maintains an operational account with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) or has received any allocation of public funds.
In a statement issued on Monday, the OAGF clarified that the PFIPC neither operates a bank account with the apex bank nor has it been credited with any funds from the federal treasury.
The clarification comes amid growing public scrutiny and speculation over the activities and financial status of the council, with questions raised about its funding, operational structure and relationship with government institutions.
According to the Accountant-General’s office, claims linking the PFIPC to an operational CBN account are inaccurate and misleading. It stressed that official records show no such account exists under the council’s name at the Central Bank.
The OAGF further emphasised that no public funds have been disbursed to the PFIPC through its office, urging members of the public to disregard reports suggesting otherwise.
The statement forms part of the government’s efforts to address misinformation surrounding public institutions and reassure Nigerians of transparency in the management of government finances.
The Office of the Accountant-General reiterated its commitment to accountability, fiscal discipline and adherence to due process in the administration of public funds, adding that only authorised government entities with duly approved financial structures are permitted to operate accounts within the country’s public financial management system.
The clarification is expected to quell speculation over the council’s financial operations as authorities continue to reinforce transparency and public confidence in Nigeria’s fiscal governance.
