Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has officially resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing widespread irregularities in the party’s internal processes.
In a statement released on Monday, Lawal alleged that the recently concluded ADC primaries were “massively rigged” to favor former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and his political allies.
Lawal’s departure marks a significant shift for the party, as he accused leadership of compromising democratic standards. Details regarding his next political move have yet to be disclosed.
