A political stakeholder and aspiring member of the adamawa house of assembly Hon. MA Modibo, says Nigeria’s 2027 general election will be a defining moment for the country’s future, calling on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to place youth empowerment at the centre of national priorities.

In a message delivered on Thursday, Modibo described his engagement with the opposition leader as a “forward-looking conversation” focused on the urgent need to expand opportunities for young Nigerians and ensure their meaningful participation in the democratic process.

“The strength of any nation lies in the empowerment, inclusion and active participation of its youth,” Modibo said, stressing that Nigeria’s large youth population represents both a challenge and an opportunity for national development.

He called for strategic collaboration and visionary leadership to unlock the potential of young people through sustainable economic and social programmes. According to him, the support of experienced political figures will be crucial in building a more inclusive political landscape ahead of the next election cycle.

Modibo urged Atiku to act as a “pillar of support” for youth-driven initiatives, describing the 2027 polls as more than a political contest.

“The coming election is a defining moment that will determine the direction of our collective future,” he said, adding that unity and purposeful leadership are essential to building a more equitable and prosperous Nigeria.

Nigeria’s 2027 elections are expected to be a major test of political alliances, youth engagement and policy direction in Africa’s most populous nation.
