The Kano State Police Command has distributed a total of ₦3 million in financial assistance to injured officers and the families of those who died in the line of duty, in a move aimed at supporting personnel affected by operational hazards.

The welfare package was presented during a ceremony at the command headquarters in Kano, where police authorities reiterated their commitment to the well-being of officers and their families.

Officials said the funds were disbursed as part of the Nigeria Police Force’s welfare initiatives designed to cushion the impact of injuries and loss suffered by officers while carrying out their duties.

According to the command, the beneficiaries included officers who sustained injuries during operations as well as the next of kin of personnel who lost their lives while serving the force.

Police authorities said the gesture reflects ongoing efforts by the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force to recognise the sacrifices of officers and provide support to families left behind.

“The welfare of our personnel remains a top priority,” a police spokesperson said, noting that the intervention demonstrates the force’s commitment to standing by officers and their families in difficult times.

Beneficiaries at the event expressed appreciation for the financial support, describing it as timely assistance that would help ease the burden on affected families.

The Nigeria Police Force has in recent years introduced several welfare programmes, including insurance and compensation schemes, aimed at improving the morale of officers and supporting families of those injured or killed in the line of duty.

Police authorities say such initiatives are intended to reinforce confidence within the ranks while acknowledging the risks officers face in maintaining security across the country.
