Tensions flared in the Nigerian Senate on Wednesday as Senator Adams Oshiomhole and Minister of Works David Umahi exchanged heated words during the defence of the N15 trillion Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway project.
The confrontation arose as Oshiomhole, representing Edo North, pressed Umahi on issues relating to funding transparency and project delays, raising concerns over accountability for the massive infrastructure initiative.
A visibly agitated Umahi accused the senator of using “foul language” and showing disrespect, insisting that the line of questioning was inappropriate.
Both politicians are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and the clash highlighted growing tensions within the party amid scrutiny of one of Nigeria’s largest ongoing road projects.
