President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a set of strategic leadership appointments for key federal institutions in the power and science sectors, in what the presidency describes as a move to strengthen governance, regulatory oversight and institutional performance.

In a statement on Tuesday, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the appointment of Engr. Adesayo Olusegun Michael as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA), the federal agency responsible for enforcing technical standards and safety across the nation’s electricity infrastructure.

President Tinubu also named a full board for NEMSA, including Aliyu Abdulazeez as Executive Director (Technical) and a geographically representative set of board members drawn from across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

At the same time, Hon. Magaji Da’u Aliyu was appointed Managing Director of the Sheda Science and Technology Complex (SHESTCO), a federal research hub based in Abuja that conducts science and technology research, including the operation of the nation’s nuclear research facilities.

The appointments are part of the administration’s broader effort to enhance institutional capacity in sectors seen as critical to national development, particularly as Nigeria strives to improve energy reliability and technological innovation.

In addition to the NEMSA and SHESTCO leadership changes, the presidency also forwarded the nomination of two commissioners — Amina Gamawa and Abdullahi Muktar — to serve on the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), pending Senate confirmation.
