The Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abubakar Kyari Gaidam, has called on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, not to be distracted by political attacks, insisting that his role remains critical to national development.

Gaidam said Nigeria needs Wike’s energy, experience and results-driven leadership, particularly in the ongoing transformation of Abuja and its satellite towns.

Speaking in Abuja, the APC vice chairman praised Wike for what he described as “visible and impactful” infrastructure development in the FCT, noting that the minister’s performance has drawn both commendation and criticism.

“Do not allow distractions to derail your focus. You are needed, and Nigerians can see the work you are doing,” Gaidam said. “History will judge leaders by their achievements, not by the noise around them.”

He urged Wike to remain committed to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that the administration requires discipline and dedication from all appointees to deliver meaningful dividends of democracy.

Gaidam also described the FCT minister as a resilient political figure capable of withstanding pressure, adding that constructive criticism should be separated from deliberate attempts to undermine governance.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers State and a key political figure, has recently faced heightened scrutiny over his role in national politics and policy decisions as FCT minister.

The APC chieftain reaffirmed the party’s support for effective governance, urging public office holders to remain focused on service delivery rather than political distractions.
