Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, a well-known politician, businessman, and social reform advocate, has officially resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), calling his move “a strategic and patriotic step toward rebuilding Nigeria’s unity and hope.”

Ajadi made the announcement on Monday, November 10, 2025, during a press briefing where he presented copies of his resignation letter to journalists. The letter, which was addressed to the NNPP Ward Chairman, Obafemi Owode Local Government Chairman, Ogun State Chairman, South-West Chairman, and the National Chairman of the party, marked his formal exit from the platform that once fielded him as its governorship candidate in Ogun State during the 2023 general elections.

Explaining the reason behind his decision, Ajadi said he took time to deeply reflect on Nigeria’s current political direction and concluded that it was time to align with a broader platform that could drive genuine national transformation.

“My decision to join the Peoples Democratic Party is both strategic and patriotic,” he told journalists. “I have great respect for the NNPP and what it stands for, but at this point in Nigeria’s history, I believe the PDP offers a wider and stronger platform for national reconciliation, youth empowerment, and true federalism.”

Ajadi, who had previously stepped down as a presidential aspirant in support of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso before contesting as NNPP’s gubernatorial flagbearer in Ogun State, made it clear that his departure was not born out of conflict or personal grievance.

“There is no bad blood between me and my former party,” he said. “I remain grateful for the opportunity to have served under its banner. However, as Nigeria continues to face economic hardship, unemployment, and leadership challenges, it is time for like-minded patriots to close ranks and rebuild trust in governance.”
