Nigerian gospel singer, Damilare Odunuga, better known by his stage name Dare Melody, has paid an emotional tribute to his late wife, Adedoyin Mary Odunuga, one year after her passing.
Taking to his Instagram page, the popular gospel artiste shared a heartfelt message alongside a photo of his late wife, describing her as the heartbeat of their home whose absence continues to leave a painful void.
He wrote, “My beloved and adorable wife (Adedoyin Mary Odunuga). One year ago, we bid farewell to my beloved wife, the heartbeat of this family and the love of my life. Your departure left an unfillable void, a stark emptiness where your vibrant spirit once danced and painted. Our home, once alive with your laughter, now echoes with solemn reminders of your absence. You were the heart of our family, and your presence is still felt every day.”
Reflecting further, Dare Melody noted that although time has passed, the sorrow of losing her remains deeply felt by him and their children.
He continued, “The seasons have changed, yet our sorrow remains, a constant confirmation to the light you brought into our lives. Our daughters have grown a year older, their eyes reflecting your childlike spark, now tinged with the sadness of loss. Each milestone, without you, has been a bittersweet testament to our enduring love.
“Though it’s been a year since you departed, your loving memories remain etched in my heart. No woman can ever take your place in my heart. May your soul rest in perfect peace. Myself and our lovely kids miss you terribly. Odigbere! Odi Arinako!! Odi Ojuala!!!”
Adedoyin passed away in October 2024 and was laid to rest at Eruwen, Ikorodu, Lagos, surrounded by family, friends, and several colleagues from the gospel music community.
Since her passing, Dare Melody has often spoken about the pain of navigating life and parenthood without her, describing the experience as one of the hardest periods of his life.
He had previously revealed that his late wife faced challenges during her lifetime, including pressures from some members of his extended family, which made her journey even more difficult.
Fans and fellow musicians have continued to express sympathy and support for the singer, praising him for keeping his wife’s memory alive through love and remembrance.
