Gospel singer Frank Edwards has joined thousands of Nigerians and members of the Christian community in mourning the passing of revered evangelist, Rev Dr Uma Ukpai.
The celebrated televangelist, founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, passed away earlier this month, prompting an outpouring of tributes from followers and public figures across the country.
Taking to his verified social media page, Frank Edwards shared an emotional post alongside a photo of the late cleric, describing him as a “true general of faith” whose ministry left a lasting mark on his life.
The “Oghene Do” crooner recounted a personal encounter from his childhood, revealing that he was miraculously healed of asthma and pneumonia during one of Rev Ukpai’s crusades when he was only eight years old.
“I was just eight years old when I attended one of Papa Uma Ukpai’s crusades,” he wrote. “That day, I got healed of asthma and pneumonia. I’ve never forgotten that encounter. He finished well. Rest in glory, Papa.”
The singer’s heartfelt tribute struck a chord with fans, many of whom took to the comment section to share their own testimonies and memories of the late preacher.
A follower, @eleke_obinna, commented, “Great man of God from my childhood. He has been a teacher of God’s word since the days of the Spiritual Union in Aba, Abia State. You have impacted many souls, sir. Rest well, Papa.”

User @brown__naya shared a touching revelation, saying, “Just a week ago, Pa Uma Ukpai ministered to me in my dream. He gave me an instruction on how to live my prayer life. I’ve been practising it since last Sunday, not knowing he would pass on a week later. Rest on, Papa.”
The late Rev Uma Ukpai was widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most respected Christian evangelists. For over five decades, he led countless revival meetings across Africa, known for his powerful messages on faith, healing, and nation-building.
Frank Edwards, who gained widespread attention earlier this year following his participation at Moses Bliss’s wedding, expressed gratitude for the life and ministry of the cleric, adding that Rev Ukpai’s work would continue to inspire generations of believers.
The news of Rev Ukpai’s passing has continued to dominate conversations across religious and social platforms, as tributes pour in from prominent gospel ministers, including Nathaniel Bassey and Ebuka Songs, who both described him as “a true soldier of Christ.”
