••Judge Emphasizes Finality of Court Judgments, Directs Compliance
The court has reiterated its previous ruling in the case concerning the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, instructing all parties to adhere to the already issued judgment. The judge clarified that a court cannot overturn its own ruling, emphasizing the established legal process of appealing to a higher court.
Furthermore, the judge explained that after delivering a judgment, they are considered “deaf and dumb” with respect to that specific case, meaning they cannot entertain further arguments. Contrary to circulating media reports, the court confirmed that no order for a stay of execution was granted to the judgment debtor. Legal representatives for the first and second defendant judgment debtors, M.Y. Abdullahi (SAN) and Z.E. Abbas Esq., were present in court and corroborated this.
Barr. Sanni Abbas Esq. challenged anyone claiming a stay of execution was granted to produce a copy of such an order, refuting the misleading reports. The court’s position remains consistent, and any party dissatisfied with the ruling is advised to pursue an appeal rather than disseminating misinformation. The court stressed the importance of following due process and respecting the finality of court judgments.
