Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, recently stated that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, asked him for his support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ahmad made this known in response to criticism he received from some Obi supporters for posting photos of himself with Obi on social media.
He clarified that Obi had visited the Buhari residence in Daura out of respect during a time of mourning.
According to Ahmad, Obi’s request for support was made in a “lighthearted tone” during a brief exchange as Obi was leaving.
He emphasized that the encounter was primarily a “humane, respectful moment during a time of mourning,” with no political discussions until the brief mention of support.
