APC stakeholders from all nine local government areas in Borno South have thrown their support behind Senator Ali Ndume. They’ve already raised more than ₦40 million to cover his nomination form for the 2027 Senate race.
A delegation led by Adamu Yamta, a longtime party veteran, turned up at the residence of Borno State APC Chairman Bello Ayuba in Maiduguri on Sunday. They laid out their decision and made it clear they intend to buy the form for the senator.
Yamta used the occasion to praise Governor Babagana Zulum. He pointed to the governor’s focus on ordinary people and the way he has tried to include every part of the state in his administration.
Ayuba didn’t hide his surprise at the size of the crowd. “I thought this meeting was for just three or five people. I am truly surprised by this massive turnout and even more impressed by the quality of stakeholders drawn from all the Local Government Areas of Borno South.
“Even members of the state party executive are here. Indeed, Senator Ndume belongs to all of us,” he said.
He also commended Zulum’s style of leadership, which he said gives every section of the state a fair shake. As proof, Ayuba mentioned his own background. He comes from one of the smaller local government areas yet was chosen to run the entire state party structure.
Abdullahi Danjato and Musa Dogo spoke too. Both stressed that the decision had been unanimous. They described Ndume as a senator who has shown his value over the years. The purpose of the visit, they explained, was to get the chairman’s blessing and put the party leadership on notice about what the group had resolved to do.
Among those who attended were the Borno South APC Zonal Leader, the State Assistant Secretary of the party, all nine local government party chairmen from Borno South, other party executives, youth leaders, and members of the business community.
